Completed Projects - MRL
Food Safety & Residue Workshop
CropLife India and our members are committed to responsible crop care and crop production for the sustainable development of Indian agriculture. Our members are involved in developing and delivering safe and effective crop protection products and technologies to improve the economic well being of Indian farmers.
Crop Protection products have to not only protect farmers crops but also comply with the stringent regulatory requirements with regard to pesticide residues in agricultural produce. The challenge for the farmer and the science based industry is to constantly provide novel chemical solutions to manage newer pests, diseases and weeds without compromising on food safety.
Post Globalization, world is becoming a global village and we are in a constant flux to meet the growing demand of the safe food. We are thus striving to have global solutions and harmonization of food safety standards the world over. Food Safety standards in India is a challenging issue for both the Indian farmer; Industry and Government.
India is having a big opportunity of exporting agricultural surpluses and high value added products; however the global acceptance of the same is a big challenge for the country. The Safety of our exports of Grapes, Tea, Basmati Rice and other commodities is being challenged by various food authorities in the Importing countries. The discerning Indian consumer should also be confident of the food he consumes and hence there is a strong felt need to bring all the stake holders on a common platform to deliberate on ‘Residue Tolerance Limits and ‘MRL Setting Process.
CropLife India in association with CropLife International and CropLife Asia organized a joint workshop on “MRL’s in Commodity / food & Consumer Safety” which was fully supported by Department of Agriculture from 26th to 28th October , 2010 in Delhi.
